Influenza Medicines

Influenza medicines, also known as antiviral drugs, are medications used to prevent or treat influenza, commonly known as the flu. These medicines are specifically designed to target and reduce the effects of the influenza virus on the body. They work by preventing the virus from replicating and spreading in the body.
Some common examples of influenza medicines include oseltamivir (Tamiflu), zanamivir (Relenza), and peramivir (Rapivab). These medications can be taken as a pill, liquid, or inhaled form. They are typically most effective when taken within 48 hours of experiencing flu symptoms. Influenza medicines can help reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms, and can also be used as a preventive measure for people at high risk of developing complications from the virus. However, they do not completely eliminate the virus or cure the flu.
